Airport Veterinary Clinic

Airport Veterinary Clinic is a full-service mixed-animal veterinary practice. This means that Dr. Holscher and Dr. Lowdermilk see pets, horses and farm animals. It is our commitment to provide quality veterinary care throughout your companion animal, horse, or farm animal's life. We understand the special role your pet plays in your family. For your pet(s), our services and facilities are designed to assist in routine preventive care for young, healthy animals, early detection and treatment of disease as your companion animal ages, and complete medical and surgical care as necessary during his or her lifetime. For horses and farm animals we provide ambulatory services (farm calls).

    Dr. Jim Holscher,Veterinarian/Administrator

In 1983, Dr. Holscher, and his wife, Sher, opened Airport Veterinary Clinic.  Initially, the Clinic began as a 500 square foot, three-room facility, which connected to the Holscher family's home.  As a result of Dr. Holscher and Sher's determination and hard work, today Airport Veterinary Clinic now employs two veterinarians, ten staff members, and is housed in a 4,000 square foot facility!

Dr. Holscher is a jack of all trades!  He treats animals of all sizes- from hamsters, cats and dogs to horses and cows!  He also works closely with both Rose Hulman Institute of Technology and Indiana State University by reviewing their research protocols and conducting evaluations of the institutions' animal care.  Dr. Holscher has developed an interest in animal reproduction, and works closely with local equine breeders and frequently uses a specially designed ultrasound for breeding.

Dr. Holscher loves spending time with his wife, four daughters, their husbands, and his grandson.  He also enjoys spending time tending to his farm animals (cows, goats and chickens), and is involved in the Vigo County 4-H and Master Gardener Programs.

  • Cheerio's, Mascot

    Cheerio's, Mascot

Cheerio’s is the official mascot for the Airport Veterinary Clinic!  He is well qualified since he has spent nearly all of his life observing veterinary medicine.  He keeps up with continuing education by attending all Lunch and Learns and staff meetings.  His favorite part about working in a veterinary clinic is taking “cat naps”, getting compliments and eating treats.  He even has his own office with a bed and a window!  From his window, he can watch the birds and squirrels and enjoy the sunshine.

Cheerio’s lives with his family of more than 10 women and enjoys all of the visitors who come through the doors of AVC as well.  Although he has been known to get a little grumpy on more than one occasion, we prefer to call it his bad "cattitude"!
  • Sam, Mascot

    Sam, Mascot

Sam wears many hats at AVC!  He is the official greeter, seat warmer, and snack taster (in fact, Sam is known for stealing snacks from unsuspecting customers!)

Sam's responsibilities at the Clinic include supervising the staff, traveling to local schools to teach children about pets and veterinary medicine and being a source of entertainment for the doctors, staff, and clients.

When not supervising the clinic staff to ensure everything is done right, Sam loves to spend his time napping in the sun, and playing with Cheerio's.
